I’m an American saxophonist/clarinettist and arranger currently living in Liverpool. I’ve lived and worked in London since 1996 after having worked in New York City for 15 years. I gained a Master’s Degree in Jazz and Commercial Music from Manhattan School of Music and recorded 4 Jazz albums. As an arranger I’ve published several big band charts.

I have taught music for over 35 years, at the City college of New York from 1985-1995, and more recently as Music Lecturer and Director of Performance at Brunel University from 1997-2017.  I have also taught annually at the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops from 1996-2006.

As a longstanding member of the International Association of Jazz Educators, I served on their Resource Team and was a charter member of the UK Jazz Services Ltd Education Advisory Panel

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching saxophone and clarinet is to locate the talent within you and draw it out. No matter what your interest and styles, I can help you develop your creative ability. I also teach arranging and composition with the aim to take the tunes from inside your head into tangible scores to share with performers and listeners alike.
